hello world!

Tah dah! Kierran Nathaniel Jacobsmeyer has arrived! All 8lbs, 1 oz 19 1/2 inches of him, and on Danny's Birthday, February 8th. Kierran is an irish name meaning dark haired one, and also a local Santa Cruz surfer, and Nathaniel is after our nephew Nate who we love, adore and respect so much. It is pronounced "Keerin" Wikipedia says:
Ciarán, Kieran, Kyran, Keiran, Kieren, Kieron, or Keiron, (Irish pronunciation: [ˈciəɾˠaːn̪ˠ] or [ciəˈɾˠaːn̪ˠ], IPA: /ˈkɪərən/ in English) is an Irish personal name meaning 'Little Dark One', 'Dark Prince' or 'Dark Haired One'.[1] Ciarán comes from the Irish word 'Ciar' which means 'dark' or 'black'.[2][3] Ciar can be linked back to Ciar, son of Fergus, King of Ulster.[4] It is linked with many names, like Kerry meaning Ciar's People.[5]
We are recovering well and adjusting to our new family life. Everything went amazingly well with the birth, it was hands down, the most incredible and empowering experience of my life. Danny was amazing through all 13 hours or so. I felt so supported by him and the doulas, who were amazing!!!
Kierran is learning so much already, like how to breast feed, sleep (on occasion =) and poop. He loves being swaddled and being held by his dad. Needless to say, we are over the moon in love with our new son. Thank you everyone for your messages, gifts, help and food. A special thanks to the grandparents for all the love and support. And to our family friend Ann for my post natal, in home mommy- hair cut, it is probably the last one I'll have for a while and surely the only one where I could sit on an exercise ball and take a nursing break. We surely couldn't do this alone. You know what they say, "it takes a village to raise a child." orange you glad this little squish is here?
